  • Spine freezes!

While using spine, I will switch between software for editing a specific piece (i.e. Photoshop, Clip studio paint, etc.). When I try to go back to the program this odd freeze happens. The application stays- on top of everything so I forces me to close the application from the task manager and I lose progress if I didn't save recently. I can't produce a log file seeing as the program needed to be closed so abruptly. but I did want to post in case of a possible reproduce and fix.

Specs:
Windows 10
Radeon R7 graphics card
intel core i5-3330 3.00GHz 3.20 Ghz
16 gb ram

woo someone else has this!!!

(its a good thing because its not just me)

Again, as I said in the other thread. The repo is :
Open spine (maximized, non fullscreen)
Switch to animate mode (maybe redundant step)
Alt+Tab to another program to replace focus and visibility of spine (minimise button in spine is not pressed) (in my case this was visual studio)
Alt+Tab(hold) +Mouse select Spine (may need to do this multiple times, my experience always < 3)
Freeze.

And @AlstonA, You should disconnect your hdmi/dvi/whatever cable to your monitor, and reinsert it, in my experience (2 monitors) it sometimes forces spine to unfreeze.

Just FYI, if you go to Spine>Settings.... You can find a shortcut button to the Spine backups folder.
In case you didn't manually save something, Spine may have generated some recent autosaves.

Thanks I have it on but I wanted to report this as an issue found in the 3.4 as well as the 3.5 beta.

Yeah, thanks for reporting! I was able to repro it too using bcat's steps. Only needed one monitor.

WOOO! heck yeah!!     :bang:

now to fix it 🙂

As a temporary workaround, I recommend not alt-tabbing. 😃
I always use Win+Tab myself. Easier to close multiple unused windows that way.
Seems safe. I was unable to reproduce the crash using WIN+Tab. But it crashes pretty reliably with the alt+tab+lmb combination.
Or just use the taskbar.

Sorry guys, I'm unable to reproduce this. What I see after bcat's steps above is that Spine is focused and mouse hovers don't occur (ie, buttons don't light up when hovered). However, clicking anywhere stops the "freeze" restores the normal behavior. I'm guessing clicking doesn't stop the freeze for you guys? No idea why I'd see different behavior. :wonder:

We added a fix in 3.5.02-beta that stops the freeze that we see. Maybe this also stops the freeze you guys see.

Confirmed fix!

Great success!

out of interest, what was causing the issue? :s

Something deep in the bowels of the windowing system, either in Java or in other libraries we use. Spelunking through those is very painful, so we fixed it by resetting the alt key state when the window gains focus.

If, like me, you are unable to update to the patch which fixes this. Pressing alt+esc fixes the problem
