Hi,

I couldn't tell you the precise cause of this. But I have win 10 (anniversary update), if I leave spine running in the background (for hours) (not minimised, but just not in focus (full screen)) and I come back to it, it will totally lock up one of my screens (the one with spine on). This has happened 5+ times yet. There is no log as I hve to kill the process with task manager.

(I am unable to bring up any other screen on that is minimised on that monitor()

Strange. I don't use 2 monitors personally, but we have tested Spine on multi monitor setups without problem. If you find the PID of the Spine process that isn't responding, then run the jstack tool from the JDK using that PID, it will dump a bunch of data which you can post here or email to us. contact@esotericsoftware.com

umm, PID? Like the process?

and ill keep an eye out. As I say spine has to be running in the background - inactive for hours, before the problem arises

@bcats you've read my tweet so you know I've been through a bunch of random freezing with Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

It has happened with me with Spine, but it's also happened with Firefox, Photoshop, Steam, Calculator, Sticky Notes, some games.
I don't have Spine open 24/7 (don't tell Nate!), so I know it's not the culprit. But it does "seem" to render a whole screen unresponsive: taskbar, desktop, all open programs.

My problem isn't as described by OP, I get to log in just fine, and using Windows works fine for hours between freezing.
I say "freeze" because it sorta acts like a crash but everything works fine after 20 to 60 seconds.

But I applied some of the fixes on my Windows. (reddit wasn't the first thing I found when I googled it).
And it seems to have stabilized some. Haven't had it freeze in a couple of days now.

People seem to suspect it's a problem with some AHCI drivers, and certain drive read/write operations trigger it.

I have all of those programs, but I have only ever seen it happen from with spine. And the fact that it only locks up one screen (spine screen) is weird. 🙁

Though I agree, it's possibly not the same problem, unless if it only started happening after you installed the anniversary update. Then I'd say it's related. 😃

This is still happening, I finally had win explorer on my right monitor, so I was able to try the jstack tool

unfortunately:

I created a DMP file from task manager if you want that.

To recap this bug, because its strange. Ill be using several programs, Edge, unity + visual studio, and spine, switching between them all, (spine and vs are on the same monitor, unity is over two monitors, and edge is all over the place). Spine will be running in the background for a few ours (with unsaved changes!).

I will come to spine again, clicking it on the taskbar. and that whole monitor will lock up. This is the monitor with the task bar on. unfortunately, as that does not work. I can ctrl_alt+delete, and be taken to the correct menu, however I am unable to see the task manager open, as it will open on the broken screen.

Luckly I can grab unity and shake it to minimise all, then open/use task manager. but any files that have been minimised can not be restored once the crash has happened

it occurs to me I may not have been running jstack as admin, possible reason for the attach to fail?

I needed the x86 jdk, I know for next time

Was able to get the crash to happen again.

seems to be related to myother thread, as it has the same error.

This may be redundant information, but I know unity doesn't handle this well (mouse wrapping stuff with unity)

Monitor 2 is my main display, and on the left. Monitor 1 is on the right.
Task bar is only on monitor 2

I have a repo!!

1) open spine ,
(open animate mode, move a key)
2) ctrl+tab( to Visual studio)
3) ctrl+tab BUT CLICK the spine window in the preview, rather than tabbing to it

also I'm unable to attach jstack even in 1.7

crash happens on single monitors aswell. unplugging then Plugging in a second monitor unfreezes the problem

Ive updated my graphics drivers and crash still happens. I'm currently running 550Ti btw

This has happened 7 times to me today >😐
