  • Can I get Weighted Meshes?

I bought spine Essential a while back after testing it out in free trial. I guess I thought I would get the Weighted Meshes with it but after along time of tiring to figure out how to do it I realize it is not available in Essential. I just use spine for hobby projects and cant spend $350 just to get the meshes, but spine is useless to me without it.

Is there any way I can use that feature or did I waste money on Essential ?

Thanks,

Hello, I'm very sorry to hear that Spine Essential has not met your needs. Unfortunately, weighted meshes are indeed reserved for Spine Professional.

Please see this link for a Gamasutra article that contains animations created in Spine Essential; it may assist you in achieving your intended animation without needing to use meshes/weighted meshes (specifically, the 11th animation at the bottom of the page, but all animations on the page were created with Essential, without the author using a mesh).

Should you be completely unable to create the animation after examining the article, you can contact us at contact@esotericsoftware.com for a refund.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I was ignorant of the available tools, the article pointed me to 'sheer' and 'scale' to get what I'm looking for. Reading the user guide for those tools helped.

I did find this in the user guide:
"Shear can be applied to an entire hierarchy of bones and is easier to apply than using deform keys or mesh weights. Also, shear is available in Spine Essential while meshes and weights require Spine Professional."

I'm glad to hear that Spine Essential was able to meet your needs!
