FaceRig Studio - with Spine?
Hello,
did you hear about softwares like FaceRig Studio?
FaceRig Studio now with Live2D Cubism 3 - YouTube
Imho it would be awesome to use it with Spine and would help a lot with animating characters :3
Let me know what do you think
I've seen videos before but never used the software myself. Is it possible to import skeletal animations in their software? It would be amazing to combine the two of course, but you'd probably have to contact them to implement Spine in their system.
Looks pretty cool!
It's not something we have on the horizon at the moment.
We don't have fancy camera tracking, but it's definitely possible to set up a face for animation in Spine.
Here's a small selection of expressions for the rig I'm currently working on. Work in progress!
Live2D is neat but generally for pretty narrow use cases (headshots, faux 3D), while Spine has broader applications and more control over performance. Camera tracking is quite cool, but it's not the only or necessarily best way to make facial animation easier. Note Shiu's face rig is using an animation for each expression and mouth shape. You can then combine any or all of the expressions and/or mouth shapes. Eg for expressions: 30% angry + 25% sad + 35% happy + 10% confused. We'll be using the rig in a demo that shows what is possible using additive animation tracks.
I want to know if there has been some consideration since then to expand the capability of Spine to face-tracking technology, or even the whole torso. I can set up my Constraints so that I use one bone (nose) to give my character's face a proper rotation, but only for specific purposes in games and videos.
For VTuber use, would it be possible in the near future?
